The Ordinary is actually a brand from DECIEM which has won countless awards for its products over the years and has even been labelled as ‘the hottest beauty company right now.’

All DECIEM products are completely free of a lot of nasties including; parabens, sulphates, mineral oil , methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone.

Also, the company does not test on animals which is always a winning factor for me.

I was already wowed by all of this information before I even got to trying and reading more out about the actual product, so you could actually knock me over with a feather when I saw that their Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA is a mere £4.90 for 30ml. I expected a much higher price tag seen as the moisturiser both looks and feels very high end.

I first applied this to my skin one evening after my skincare routine and I instantly felt how lightweight yet hydrating the formula is. The white cream disappeared into my skin pretty quickly and left me feeling refreshed and my skin nourished. I felt like my skin was a little bit tacky afterwards which to me, is actually a good thing as it led me to believe that the moisturiser would be a great pre-makeup primer too. (I tested my theory and I can tell you now, it makes a great makeup base). Upon closer inspection of the ingredients, I saw that Glycerin was the 7th most used ingredient on the list which explained the tacky feeling. When I say tacky, I don’t mean overly sticky or uncomfortable in any way, quite the opposite in fact.

The Ordinary describes the technicalities of the ingredients in the product much easier than I can, so this is what they have to say about it: “The Surface Hydration Formula Natural Moisturizing Factors are made up of multiple amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and many other compounds that are naturally present in the skin.”

So basically, the formula is made out of the same compounds which are naturally present in our skin. This particular formula is a non-greasy, hydrating cream that acts as a direct topical (applied directly to the skin) application of impaired NMF components. So image if you will, that you are simply adding back to your skin that which is already present. The product promises to offer immediate hydration and lasting results with continued use.

Although it might sound a little complicated, in the simple form, this is an extremely clever moisturiser that works in harmony with the skin and really does leave it feeling beautifully smoothed and nourished.
